Balwearie Thunder
Balwearie Thunder was formed for the 2005/6 season as the club grew and became more competitive. Newer less experienced players in Balwearie seemed to be getting less rink time and felt they were under pressure to raise their game to standards they weren't yet capable of.
It was decided to have a more competitive team and a development team. The options were to split the club or remain as one club but fielding the two teams. Sense prevailed, as most teams are not big enough to train on their own due to financial and membership availability. The first season saw Thunder play some good floorball but still struggle to win games. This was due to the size of the squad as Thunder was mostly short benched in tournaments. Season 2006/2007 saw the club become more integrated and harmonious and attracting experienced players. A selection committee from both teams pick the line ups and Thunder has become a team that no one takes lightly in the league.
Thunder are grateful for the support our colleagues in Lightning have given them and can only get better as there are some good players waiting to step up from the Balwearie second team.
